What is Bright Annealed (BA) Finish？
The classic use of a BA finish is domestic: the interior of a dishwasher or clothes washing machine. In the clothes washer, it also provides a smooth, non-abrasive surface for the clothes to slide around. The mirror like surface is also used in road mirrors where a precise image is not required.
When specifying this finish think about these attributes:
- BA is common in some grades and thicknesses, but not all
- It is highly corrosion resistant because it is very smooth
- Different batches may not match
- It is has been produced in the mill and can’t be exactly matched after fabrication although a mechanical mirror polish can be close.
430 Stainless Steel Sheet with Ba Finish
The 430 Stainless Steel Sheet with Ba Finish is cold rolled stainless steel that is annealed in a controlled atmosphere to retain a highly reflective finish. Although it is not completely identical to the #8 mirror finish, it appears to be very similar. The 430 stainless steel bright annealed finish has a PVC film on one side to help protect against scratching during fabrication and installation.
430 Stainless Steel Sheet with Ba Finish is protected by PVC film to avoid damage.
430 stainless steel sheet metal is a slightly lower grade than the 300 series and is commonly used for applications when the metal needs to hold a magnet, which the 300 series does not. 430 stainless steel sheet bright annealed finish is slightly more susceptible to corrosion since it does not contain nickel or molybdenum like the 300 series.
